Will Using A Keyword In My Domain Name Help Me With URL SEO?.
Here’s a little bit of advice to new bloggers out there, when choosing new domain names for your website or blog, choose a name that contains the keyword that you’re targeting for your blog/ website, domain names containing keywords are play a very big role in SEO. Search engines are smart enough to understand targeted keywords in your domain name, and hyphenated domains containing keywords are just as viable as domains without any hyphens.
You’ll be surprised how beneficial your URL will become if it’s structures properly and contains the main keyword you are trying to target.
Let’s take a look at some examples here, say I’m trying to target the keyword “Golf Disability”, what would be the perfect “keyword” rich domain?. (By the way, these are not live URL’s, just an example that came to my head)
If you haven’t figured it out yet, the answer would be option # 2, this is the domain that you’d want to purchase and build around your website/ blog which will target the keyword “ Golf Disability”, and the benefit of this is that once your site is optimized for the search engines, queries for “golf disability” will hopefully rank your site higher than that of another site which is utilizing the same keyword.
Look at it this way, if you build your site around golf disability, and your domain name is say www.funnycatpics.info, you can see where the search engine robots might get confused, your KW is golf disability but the title of your domain is funny cats, not to mention, this will not help you with getting the right targeted ads from Google Adsense either!.
Of course, just by utilizing your keyword in your domain name will not mean your site ranking high in the major search engines, you’ll have to spend a lot of time writing quality content, building viable incoming and outgoing links and general advertising!.
